West Valley casino welcomes first slots; sets Dec. 20 opening
December 20th is when the gaming venue will open its doors, launching the Valley’s first ever casino on the west side, in a move municipal officials see ushering in a new era of growth.
The scheduled opening five days prior to Christmas will be the first of a three-phase completion of what eventually will be a resort, featuring 80,000-85,000 square feet of gambling space, restaurants, a hotel, conference center and spa. The entire resort will cover about 130,000 square feet of structures. The full project is expected to be finished by late 2017 or early 2018.
The initial phase, 40,000 square feet of gaming space including 1,089 slot machines, a food court and bar, will eventually house only the resort’s administrative offices, employee facilities, police and warehouse area.
The area includes University of Phoenix Stadium, home of the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals; the Gila Riva Arena, where the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes play and Westgate, which includes numerous restaurants and establishments, hotels and the Tanger Outlets shopping mall.
The West Valley is growing and looks like there’s much much more to come.
